artists in search of a venue (PLEASE READ)

When we began our series, our primary intent was to support traveling artists passing through the area. We knew several very talented people who were struggling to make ends meet, and we hoped that providing a venue might in some small way help them along their paths. Over time we have come to realize that it isn't singer/songwriters who are "endangered," but appreciative audience members! Particularly as close as we live to downtown Milwaukee, entertainment options are plentiful-- that is, if people can tear themselves from comfortable homes and beckoning televisions. We continue to muster a respectable crowd if artists are well-known in the area, but any time we've tried to introduce new faces our turnouts drop to single digits. That's discouraging all around.

We'll never lose the heart for contemporary singer/songwriters, but we've started to put our efforts behind other local venues. We'll still have occasional shows now and then, but only to host a handful of long-time friends who find themselves in the neighborhood with a free evening.

We apologize if you've approached us and haven't received a response. After twelve years, we still receive several e-mails each week from interested artists-- even though we're a no-guarantee show that hasn't exceeded ten concerts each year. We're often unable to keep up with personal regrets for each unsolicited approach. That may seem rude to some, but it's simply our need to put our energies where they have the greatest benefit.

Still determined to put your music in our ears? If your mind is made up, we won't stop you. We're at:
