genesis
We've always loved acoustic music; in fact, Rich and Cindi met at an open stage at a local tavern. But after ten years of marriage, when someone suggested that we return to the things that we'd always liked to share, we stumbled onto a poster for James Lee Stanley playing at Cedarburg's Wisconsin Singer Songwriter Series -- that very night! Somehow we knew we'd come home. With the support and encouragement of WSSS founder Joe DeLucia and renowned local Folk DJ Mike Yuhas, we invited some wonderful artists to get us started. That was in 1995-- and despite erratic attendance, stupid pet tricks and the odd blizzard, we still open our living room now and then when our favorites come through town. Hope you'll join us soon!
what we offer
Concerts are held in our cosy Washington Heights living room. We'll reserve your places as soon as we receive your suggested donation, with all proceeds going to the artist. (Let's be clear-- we're NOT in this to make money. If we were, this would have to be the world's worst business plan!) We'll serve warm spiced cider (or iced lemonade if the weather demands), and you'll enjoy our generous all-you-can-eat buffet of homemade desserts, fruit and munchies for no additional investment. It's easy to strike up conversations in the leisurely break between sets, whether you want to Meet The Artist or simply network with other fans of acoustic music. While in the neighborhood, artists are welcome to stay over in our comfortable guest room-- unless they're allergic to our growing canine and feline family, that is!
And on a more personal note. . .

These days, WHO WE ARE can't help but include our politics. We're ecstatic about our new president! We're also moved by his conviction as a long-time community organizer that it's up to all of us to shape a better world.

The primary reason we moved was to be closer to our
church, and to invest ourselves more deeply in urban ministry. Through our church we learned about MICAH, Milwaukee Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope. We've been working with MICAH for nearly two years now on issues such as Jobs and Economic Development, Immigration, Treatment Instead of Prisons, and Education and Children's Health. It's a great way to reshape this city so it's in line with our values of equality and human dignity.

Whatever your politics, we hope you can find a cause you believe in and work towards it. It's the most energizing choice you can make!
